🌍 Part Three: The Earth Gate
"Final World Acquired."

The crimson glyphs hung frozen in the air above the holographic chart.

And above their heads...

The sky was tearing apart.

A colossal black rift fractured the crimson clouds, jagged azure lightning arcing along its edges as if the fabric of space itself were ripping at the seams.

Dr. Samer roared:

β€” "To the ship! Now!"

Rayan, Layan, Adam, and Zero sprinted toward the Blue Eagle.

Suddenly, a terrifying sound shook the basin behind them:

GRAAAAAAAHR!

Rayan glanced back over his shoulder. Dozens of the translucent, six-legged beasts were surging up from the black sand. But they were not giving chase.

They were fleeing, too.

Layan gasped:

β€” "They're terrified!"

Rayan looked back up at the expanding rift in the heavens:

β€” "The question is... of what?"

Then something emerged from the breach.

A massive black limb...

Followed by another.

Samer yelled:

β€” "Do not look back! Run!"

πŸš€ Escape from the Forbidden World
Adam slammed the airlock hatch shut.

β€” "All aboard!"

Rayan dropped into the pilot's seat, thumbing the primary ignition.

Nothing.

He cycled it again.

Click... click... click...

He shouted:

β€” "Adam?!"

Adam yelled back:

β€” "I know, I know!"

He sprinted down the catwalk toward the engineering bay.

Outside, the dark entities closed the distance:

500 meters.

300 meters.

100 meters.

Layan screamed:

β€” "Adam!"

Adam’s voice crackled over the intercom:

β€” "Try it now!"

Rayan slammed the drive throttle forward.

WHOOOOOOOOSH!

The sub-light engines flared with cerulean fire. The Blue Eagle lifted off mere seconds before the swarm overran the landing pad, shooting vertically into the upper atmosphere.

Directly in their climb vector hung the colossal obsidian dreadnought. Thousands of crimson targeting sensors flared to life across its hull.

Zero reported:

β€” "We have been acquired by target locks."

Adam called out:

β€” "Do you have any better news?!"

β€” "Affirmative."

β€” "What?!"

β€” "They have not yet opened fire."

Instantly, hundreds of red plasma bolts converged on their position.

Zero updated:

β€” "Correction: They have opened fire."

Adam groaned:

β€” "Thank you, Zero!"

⚑ Interstellar Pursuit
Rayan threw the Blue Eagle into a violent lateral roll. A plasma beam sheared past their starboard wingtip.

BOOM!

A trailing asteroid detonated into glowing shards behind them.

Layan called out:

β€” "The hyperspace gate is directly ahead!"

A small, swirling azure vortex opened in the distance.

Yet three black warships dropped out of transit directly in front of the threshold.

Rayan gritted his teeth:

β€” "I can't punch through without colliding!"

Samer stepped up behind the pilot's station:

β€” "There's an approach vector."

Rayan glanced back:

β€” "Where?"

Samer pointed at two vanguard destroyers rapidly converging on an intercept course:

β€” "Right between them."

Adam stared at him in disbelief:

β€” "That's not a flight corridor!"

Samer offered a faint smirk:

β€” "To an explorer... it's a corridor."

Rayan grinned:

β€” "I'm starting to like this guy."

He pushed the thrusters to maximum emergency burn. The Blue Eagle accelerated head-on toward the converging warships.

Layan cried out:

β€” "Rayan!!"

At the final split-second...

Rayan banked the ship on its axis, slipping through the gap with meters of clearance.

The opposing warships' incoming salvos crossed directly into one another's hulls.

BOOOOOOOOM!

The Blue Eagle shot cleanly through the fireball and plunged straight into the gate.

🌍 Return to Earth
The ship reverted to sub-light on the other side of the transit corridor.

A familiar blue orb filled the forward viewport.

Adam exhaled:

β€” "Earth!"

His smile vanished instantly.

Orbiting Earth...

A desperate naval engagement was underway.

Dozens of human orbital defense vessels were volleying salvos of kinetic missiles and beam arrays against an armada of black warships pouring from a massive spatial rift near the Moon.

Detonations illuminated the void. Hull plating and derelict debris drifted through low planetary orbit.

Layan whispered:

β€” "They began the assault before we could even jump."

Rayan engaged the emergency transponder:

β€” "This is exploratory vessel Blue Eagle! Horizon Station, do you copy?!"

Static hissed, then broke:

β€” "Rayan?! You made it back?!"

β€” "We're on approach! What is the situation?"

β€” "The rift tore open two hours ago. Unidentified hostiles crossed through. Planetary defense is holding an orbital perimeter to keep them off the atmosphere!"

Another voice cut through the channel:

β€” "Break break! Blue Eagle, check your six!"

Rayan checked the tactical radar: five black interceptors had peeled away from the lunar battle group, vectoring straight toward them.

β€” "Hang on!"

πŸ’₯ Lunar Crossfire
The Blue Eagle darted into the defensive fleet's flak perimeter.

The fleet admiral hailed over the tactical net:

β€” "Blue Eagle, fall back to Horizon Station's hangar array immediately!"

Samer shouted:

β€” "Negative! Do not dock!"

Rayan asked:

β€” "Why?"

β€” "Because Earth is not their objective."

Adam threw his hands up:

β€” "From where I'm sitting, they're doing a remarkably thorough job of attacking it!"

Samer shook his head:

β€” "If planetary annihilation were their intent, they would have initiated an orbital bombardment from high orbit." He pointed at the tactical display: "They are sweeping the system for a specific payload."

Layan realized:

β€” "The key."

Samer nodded:

β€” "Precisely."

Suddenly, Layan called out:

β€” "Rayan... look."

Every incoming interceptor pursuing them abruptly executed a synchronized turn. The entire formation locked course straight toward the Blue Eagle.

Adam muttered:

β€” "I think they just found what they were looking for."

πŸ€– The Anomaly in Zero
Zero’s chassis began to shudder erratically.

His optical sensors flared bright, cut out completely, then rebooted.

The glow shifted from calm cerulean...

To a hard, cold crimson.

Adam stepped back:

β€” "Zero?"

No answer.

β€” "Zero!"

The droid rotated his head with mechanical stiffness. A synthesized, distorted vocal cadence emerged:

"Data handshake established."

Everyone recoiled.

Layan asked:

β€” "What handshake?!"

Zero tilted his head upward:

"Carrier vessel acquired."

Rayan grabbed the droid by his shoulders:

β€” "Zero! It's me, Rayan!"

The droid’s chassis vibrated violently:

β€” "R... Rayan..."

Then the distorted override took hold again:

"Surrender the key."

Adam yelled:

β€” "Sever his power bus!"

He reached for the maintenance latch on Zero's back, but Samer caught his wrist:

β€” "Wait! Do not touch that interface!"

β€” "Why?!"

Samer stared at the droid in disbelief:

β€” "Because I recognize this architecture."

Dead silence fell over the deck.

Rayan asked:

β€” "What are you talking about?"

Samer stepped forward, brushing away the carbon scoring on the nape of Zero's neck. Underneath was a faded glyph etched into the metal:

πŸ”»

Samer whispered:

β€” "Zero was never built by human hands."

😨 The Buried Truth
Adam protested:

β€” "That's impossible! I've overhauled his relays a hundred times!"

Samer explained:

β€” "His exterior chassis was retrofitted with human hardware." He pointed toward the central processing dome: "But what sits inside his core core... predates human civilization by millennia."

Rayan looked at Zero. Memories clicked into place:

On their very first journey...

Zero was the only one who could decrypt the archaic signal.

He was the only one who understood the starchart's cipher.

And he alone knew how to interface with the spires on the Lost Planet.

Rayan asked quietly:

β€” "You knew all along."

Zero lifted his head. His optical units flickered back to steady blue:

β€” "I did not possess that knowledge."

β€” "Who manufactured you, Zero?"

Zero paused, running an internal query:

β€” "The data is missing from primary storage."

Suddenly, a volumetric holo-image projected from his optics: an alien metropolis of thousands of alabaster spires rising beneath a golden sky.

A tall, luminous figure stood before them, speaking in an ancient voice:

"Should the Shadow ever reach the Final World... awaken the Guardian."

The projection collapsed.

Layan asked:

β€” "Who is the Guardian?"

Zero replied:

β€” "I do not know." He paused for a beat: "However, I possess its geographical coordinates."

🌊 Beneath the Earth
A planetary projection of Earth materialized above the console. A beacon swept across continents:

Europe...

Asia...

The Middle East...

Until it locked onto a remote desert expanse.

The coordinate marker did not rest on the surface.

It was buried four kilometers beneath the continental crust.

Samer stared at the numbers:

β€” "Impossible..."

Rayan asked:

β€” "What is it?"

β€” "Those coordinates are logged in the classified archives of our seventeen-year-old survey mission."

Layan asked:

β€” "What's down there?"

Samer looked up:

β€” "Nobody knows. But seventeen years ago, deep-core seismic arrays detected an immense metallic mass buried in the bedrock."

Adam asked:

β€” "A starship?"

β€” "Far larger."

β€” "A buried city?"

β€” "Larger still."

Rayan pressed:

β€” "Then what is it?"

Samer answered:

β€” "We never had the clearance to find out."

β˜„οΈ The Crash
The proximity klaxon screamed:

WHRRRRRRRR!

Layan shouted:

β€” "Incoming warhead lock!"

Rayan hauled the control yoke, but the interceptors were already firing.

BOOOOOOOOOM!

The detonation shredded the port stabilizer wing. The Blue Eagle tumbled into a violent atmospheric reentry.

Adam yelled:

β€” "Main drives are offline!"

Layan shouted:

β€” "Altitude reading: 80 kilometers! We're coming in too steep!"

The forward cockpit baked in reentry flame.

60 kilometers.

40 kilometers.

Rayan yelled:

β€” "Adam!"

β€” "Thrusters are dead!"

20 kilometers.

Samer called out:

β€” "Deploy auxiliary glide surfaces!"

β€” "Hydraulics won't respond!"

Suddenly, Zero raised his mechanical hand. The glyph at the nape of his neck flashed bright azure, sending an electromagnetic shockwave through the cockpit relays.

Every display terminal rebooted simultaneously.

Adam stared:

β€” "How did you do that?!"

Zero replied:

β€” "I do not possess an explanation!"

Rayan seized the controls. The Blue Eagle's nose pulled up, skimming across the mountain ridges before crashing into the desert sands.

BOOM!

🏜️ The Gate of the Ancients
The crew kicked open the crumpled boarding ramp and crawled out into the desert heat.

Adam looked back at the smoking hull of the Blue Eagle:

β€” "This time... it's going to take a lot more than a screwdriver."

Zero, however, was already marching across the dunes.

Rayan called:

β€” "Zero?"

The droid did not answer.

The team followed him to a sheer geological fault. Zero raised his metallic hand; the glyph on his neck flared with blue light.

The desert floor began to groan:

THUD...

THUD-THUD...

The mountain face split down the center. A colossal metallic gate buried inside the bedrock swung open, towering hundreds of meters into the sky.

Layan looked up in awe:

β€” "This has been standing here for thousands of years?"

Samer murmured:

β€” "Quite possibly before the dawn of humanity."

As Zero crossed the threshold, an automated sensor beam bathed his frame in amber light.

A deep, subterranean synthesized voice resonated through the canyon:

"Key confirmed."

Everyone glanced down at the starchart in Rayan's hands.

The system's voice continued:

"Correction: The key is not the map."

They exchanged looks.

The voice echoed again:

"The key is Unit Zero."

Adam blinked:

β€” "Unit Zero?"

Rayan looked down at the small droid.

Zero.

The droid took a hesitant step back:

β€” "I am... the key?"

The inner blast doors parted.

πŸ›°οΈ The Guardian
They stepped inside.

Illumination strips fired sequentially into the distance:

Click.

Click.

Click.

An immense hangar bay stretched further than their eyes could follow. When the vaulted ceiling illuminated, everyone stopped dead in their tracks.

It was neither an outpost nor a city.

It was a starship.

A subterranean dreadnought of unimaginable scale, buried beneath the earth for so long that mountain ranges had formed over its hull across geological epochs.

At the center of the bridge stood a dais sealed behind obsidian plating.

Zero walked toward it and placed his palm against the console.

WHOOOOOOM!

The entire starship began to power up. Millions of fiber-optic conduits blazed to life, auxiliary reactors hummed, and the mountain shook around them.

Samer breathed:

β€” "The Guardian..."

The blast plating slid back, revealing not a kinetic superweapon, but another automaton.

It shared Zero's design language, yet stood nearly three meters tall.

Its optical units ignited with molten gold.

It looked down at Zero, then slowly sank to one knee, lowering its head:

"Welcome back... Commander."

No one moved.

Adam broke the silence:

β€” "Commander?!"

Rayan turned toward Zero. Even the small droid looked completely stunned:

β€” "I believe I am in urgent need of a memory update."

Suddenly, a shockwave rocked the subterranean complex:

BOOOOOOOOOM!

Layan pointed to the primary tactical holoscreen:

β€” "Orbital sensors! They found our vector!"

The projection showed hundreds of black warships piercing Earth's stratosphere.

A crimson alert populated the screen:

Time to Primary Rift Convergence: 18 minutes.

Rayan asked:

β€” "What happens in eighteen minutes?"

The golden sentinel rose to its full height, its voice dead serious:

"Upon total aperture stabilization... the vanguard fleet will not be all that crosses."

He paused:

"The Shadow Lord himself will emerge."

Samer asked:

β€” "What is his combat capacity?"

The Guardian answered:

"This vessel was never engineered to defend Earth from him."

Layan asked:

β€” "Then why was it buried here?!"

The Guardian raised its head as the planetary engines ignited deep beneath the mountains:

"It was built to detonate the gate..."

He looked down at the holographic rendering of Earth:

"...even if we must incinerate the world beneath it."

Rayan stepped forward, his voice hard:

β€” "We are not destroying Earth."

The Guardian looked down at him:

"Then you have eighteen minutes to devise an alternative operational plan... explorer."

The countdown began ticking down:

17:59

17:58

17:57...

Rayan looked at Layan.

Then at Adam.

Then at Zero.

β€” "We have seventeen minutes."

Adam gave a tense grin:

β€” "We've faced worse odds."

Layan countered:

β€” "No, we haven't."

Adam paused:

β€” "Fair point."

Rayan looked back up at the tactical screen as the skies filled with enemy warships:

β€” "Then we're going to need a plan we've never attempted before."

17:42...

17:41...

17:40...

Suddenly, Zero spoke up:

β€” "Rayan..."

β€” "What is it?"

The droid was staring at an encrypted data partition on the starchart:

β€” "I believe I have recovered the registry entry for my creator."

Rayan leaned in:

β€” "Who made you, Zero?"

Zero turned his blue optical units toward Rayan:

β€” "The Shadow Lord."

To be continued... πŸŒ‘

πŸš€ Part Four: Zero β€” The Secret of Unit Zero
