Faris packed his water flask and followed the golden needle's direction. It led him through sand dunes to the entrance of a forgotten sandstone temple. Inside the temple, the walls were covered in glowing murals that depicted ancient stargazers. The compass needle pointed directly to a pedestal in the center of the hall, which had a compass-shaped slot.
When Faris placed the compass in the slot, the temple walls shifted, revealing a hidden oasis beneath the desert floor. The oasis had fresh water and sweet date palms, saving a caravan of lost travelers who had been stranded nearby. Faris learned that the compass pointed not to directions, but to places where people needed help. He kept the compass close, ready for his next journey.
