The path was filled with new sights and sounds. They walked through fields of wild flowers and crossed rocky streams. Along the way, they met a young deer whose leg was caught in a bramble. Bashar, using his claws, carefully cut the brambles to free the deer. The deer thanked him and showed them a shortcut to the lake.
They finally reached the Great Lake, a massive body of crystal-clear water reflecting the blue sky. In the center of the lake was a small island where Talal the turtle elder lived. Bashar swam across easily, using the skills his mother had taught him.
Talal welcomed Bashar and Dana. He spent the evening telling them stories of how the stars were formed and how the forest animals had guided travelers throughout history. Bashar returned home, feeling wiser and braver, ready to share his new knowledge with his family.
