Laila lived in a quiet valley where the summers were long, but the colors were dull. The houses were grey, the grass was pale green, and the flowers rarely bloomed. Laila loved to paint, but she had only charcoal and white paper. She dreamed of a world filled with vibrant colors. On her tenth birthday, she visited the old bridge at the edge of the valley, where an old lady with a silver shawl was sitting, holding a wooden paintbrush with bristles that shriveled with light.

The lady smiled and handed the brush to Laila. 'This is the Paintbrush of Dreams, Laila,' she said. 'Whatever you paint with it will become real. Use it with love, and remember that color is meant to bring joy.' Laila thanked her and ran back to the village. She decided to try the brush on a wooden board. She dipped it into her imagination and painted a bright, red rose. As soon as she finished the last petal, the painted rose glowed and turned into a real, fragrant flower.

Laila gasped in delight. She realized the immense power she held. Over the next few weeks, she worked in secret. She painted glowing yellow sunflowers along the paths, blue butterflies that flew up into the sky, and green vines that climbed the grey walls of the houses. The village began to transform. People came out of their homes, smiling at the beautiful colors, and the grey mood of the valley washed away.

However, a greedy merchant named Saleh noticed the magic. He demanded that Laila paint him a chest of gold coins. When Laila refused, Saleh grabbed the brush and painted a massive gold crown. But because his heart was filled with greed, the crown turned into cold, heavy lead, pinning him to the ground. Laila took the brush back. She painted a stream of butterflies that lifted the heavy lead off Saleh. Realizing his mistake, Saleh apologized. Laila continued to paint, not gold or riches, but life and beauty, turning the valley into a living canvas of joy.
